Justin: but I like it and I am only 4 years old.
Me: so you need me to pat you till u are five?
Justin: yes
Me: how about when u are six?
Justin: yes
Me: until u are 10?
Justin: that's too long!!! Am big already then!

Small j starts walking!

The hubby first saw small j take his first steps on Thursday. ;) just a few days shy of his 10th month birthday! Much much faster than big j did- remember that big j walked when he was 13th months old.

Here's a picture of him .. Doesn't he look like a big boy already! We joke that he looks like hubby but behaves exactly like me, whereas big j looks like me, but has 101% of hubby's character ;) guess its all fair now!

Another picture of him with the vegetable seller who is in love with him!

At the science centre

We trooped off to a place that we didn't seem to have much luck with - all the way in the west .. Singapore science centre! The first time we tried going there was when big j was around 2 plus. He was sick but not contagious and we were on leave so in the spirit of exploring, we drove all the way there to only find out it was closed! The second time we planned to visit but it started pouring v heavily. So we hoped we would get third time lucky.. Thankfully we did! And just in time cos a 3d dino exhibit was on!

Look at the size of the dino! Impressive I must say ;)

First off to have some
Macs breAkkie before we venture into the place. Hubby was on a quest to finish his mac monopoly and since it was the weekend, u get double stamps.

This dino exhibit is called "dinosaurs live" and features 3d dinos set in a forest adventure. The kids are given booklets where they can collect stamps along the trail and learn more about the different species of dinosaurs that lived. Think big j really looks the explorer part with his jungle hat.

Couldn't take much pics within cos no flash photography allowed and it was too dark. But we caught his favourite T-Rex and he was thrilled!

Baby however was seriously bored cos he was stuck on the stroller and couldn't crawl. Getting grumpier by the minute.

We decided to explore the other exhibits and this is big j trying out some slow motion detector. Must say that hubby and I recognise some of the exhibits and considering the last time we came here was 20 years ago, it's rather scary!

Here is daddy helping big j on what must have been his favourite - a canon explosion. The kids have to load the canon in the right order with the right materials and then set it off ;) of cos the loud bombs was v entertaining.

;) we spent half a day there before heading bAck home. It has been fun visiting and we will be back soon!

Occupations in school

Big j has been learning about occupations in school this term. So far I have heard him talk about policeman, fireman and doctor :) or rather I should say he calls it firefighter - perhaps its a more politically correct term! And that happens to be his favourite. Everytime we ask him what he wants to be when he grows up, he never fails to reply "firefighter".

He was sick over the weekend so we kept him at home. Mum came over to help and she related this funny story to me. Small j fell whilst trying to reach for something and bumped his head on the floor mat.. Of cos there was crying involved and a small bump on his head. Mum rushed over and said "Didi, u are ok.. Dun cry" and this was big j's valued added reply:

"Didi.. Are u ok? U hit your head? U have to go to the hospital u know.. Doc has to check u"

"he is ok, it's just a small bump, not serious so dun have to go to the hospital"

"no,no.. He hit his head.. Mummy said have to go to hospital to check and take medicine"

My mum reckons that he has been to the hospital one too many times this year.

She also brought him down for a walk during the afternoon and they waked past the neighbourhood police post. Big j insisted on entering to say hi to the policeman. Apparently he was all nice and friendly and say a very big hi to the sergeant in there ;) seems like he did overcome his initial fear to them already!

Happy birthday to me ;)

On my birthday, we did:
1. Brought big j to the hairdresser finally! At a cheap cheap cut of 4.80, he had his first salon experience. Aided by iPad technology, it was fuss free! Hubby asked what took us so long to bring him for a haircut, we said "iPad" ;)

2. We fed fever meds to the big j who was still running a temp :(

3. Brought little one to parkway for weekly grocery shopping whilst the big j slept. Small j slept too, finally once in his stroller!

3. Got flowers from both the hubby and colleagues. Plus a hello kitty balloon too!

4. Thanks to mum who agreed to pop over and help out for a couple of hours, hubby and I managed to go for a nice couple dinner at margaritas! Very very yummy but super ex, reserved only for special occasions.

Happy birthday to me!

The night before my birthday

The night before my 34th birthday and spending it with my 3 boys at home. Well, it's not the original plan but hey guess sometimes best plan gets thrown out of the window.

Big j vomitted all over the sofa so that's a major load of washing to do. Still having fever but am hoping that it will break soon. Still a bit grumpy but could still fight with me which I take to be a relatively good sign. Not sure what bug this one is but sure hope it goes away soon.

Picture just take yesterday: With his chunginton box from school!

Spending time also with the baby ;) left pump at work so had to Bf him!

So birthday wish is for everyone at home to stay healthy!

Hoping and praying that he will get well soon!

Big j's phone call

Big j had a Funny conversation by pretending to call his grandma using the handsfree kit. He said he was driving and getting directions to drive home.

That was the question that big j asked me tonight. Really didn't know what to say! Told him he is a boy and not a princess.. Then the conversation went on :

Big j: tell me what is my name, what are the letters?

Me: you know how to spell you name right? You spell..

Big j: justin! Ok now mummy, what is my princess name?

Me: u are not a princess.. U are a prince!

Big j : say with me mummy, look at my mouth... Yang Cheng xun!

Me: that's ur Chinese name.. Not ur prince name!

So much after saying that berries is helping! ;(

Taken at bedtime today, reading a book with his daddy ;)

Small j with daddy and mummy!

We had a sunday morning with small j ;) big j got a fun filled day prepared by his grandparents. So off we went for a nice big breakkie at coffee club.. Just the 3 of us!

Now that big j is older and a lot more independent, his grandparents can really bring him out for half a day and he will be ok ... Just need to "return" him in time for his nap. So we do enjoy a good half of the day just with little j.. We think he enjoys it a lot too!

Picture of big j in the morning before he got picked up...Spidey balloon courtesy of my mum last night.

After the breakfast, we headed to our usual weekend haunt of parkway. Took the following pics after feeding the boy ;)

Think he got rather excited to see a friend in the mirror! Although this little j doesn't smile as much as his brother, the moments that he does can be so sweet!

Soon it was time to ahead home... Both boys taking their naps now. V blissful!

Big j started his first Chinese enrichment last week at Berries! Located at kembangan cc, the location is a big big plus point. Only draw back is that the timing isn't the most ideal at 3.45pm. Means that daddy has to bring him back earlier after sushi tei lunch, which happens ever week, after art class.

He gets a shorter nap and we have to bundle him out by 3.30pm! After dropping him off - cos that space has no parking, we head off to the supermarket at signal ;) it has turned out to be our mini couple time together... Short one till it's time to head off to pick him up again.

This month's lesson is focusing on household items - he learnt sha fa (sofa), deng (lamp), chuang (bed) and zhen tou (pillow) ;) not bad!! For last week's lesson they even made a mini-bed craft and the kids were told to practice making their beds when they got home.

Does he like it? ;) I think he does! It does help that his teacher is v v pretty!! The 1.5 hours of pure chinese each week is helping him speak in full mandarin sentences- he amazed me with that. Keep it up big J!!

Status Updates

Sounding too technical?? Just that it really has been too long since i regularly post. Perhaps its not enough time? or just no energy? really admire mummies who can religiously put up posts everyday. Maybe i should take the effort to do this - meaning blog, everyday!

First, updates on the big J- he has finally managed to learn how to blow his nose at a grand age of 3.5 years. I have never been so excited to see snot. It was amazing! Hoping that this will help alleviate his nasal congestion, which to those who know us, has been a big problem for him.

So far, he has seen dr Leong of ascent ent who has recommended taking out his tonsils and adenoids so as to improve his passage way and try to recorrect his mouth breathing and lower jaw malacussion. Dr lim, his regular ped, suggested that we also see dr Ann Koh who is the head of the allergies unit in Kkh, to do a sleep study and see if operation is warranted. His study has been scheduled to be on 19th jan and I hope all will be smooth.

For now, it's the sterimar 3 times a day and blowing of nose. Hope it helps ;) it's crazy I know- even dr Ann koh was remarking that I sounded like a medical professional during the consult cos I could use all the technical terms. Things I learn becos of my son!

For small j - who I affectionately call, "ah j j", has been down with a cold and cough. Keeping us up all night with his insistence of moving round the bed. he is a feisty one and will put up a struggle in a fight with gor gor. Good weight of 11.4kg and 6 teeth at 9 months ;) but far far more active than Justin - very good crawler and already cruising with support. Favorite song is twinkle twinkle and loves mickey mouse! Whereas Justin is quite an easy going kid, Jason is more stubborn.. Omg!

We try to spend the weekends with them ;) Sundays are still most crazy cos sari is off. Now big j has 2 enrichment classes on sat- art and Chinese, so sat are dedicated to that. Evenings are usually out for dinner or just bringing big j out somewhere( often the airport!). Sundays used to be for big j eq class at hougang that we had to discontinue cos of sheer distance. So now, we are in search for another breakkie hangout on Sundays.

We dun have the luxury of bringing small j home for his naps but luckily he does sleep outside- still needs to be carried but better than nothing!

Two boys and me 2 Saturdays ago ;) teaching them to love one another as brothers each day seems to be the mantra!

How has the j&js been?

That's what I call them collectively..j&j. They have been good to me- big j is getting more and more independent and able to do more things on his own. Small j is his cute adorable self, teething his upper front teeth( he already has his lower ones at 5.5 months) which causes me duress at nights but hey, it happens.

Work is driving me ding dong bell! And I am really trying to re learn the concept of time management! It's a mad mad rush from home to work and vice versa and thank goodness the commute isn't that bad. I always say now I have 2 full time jobs, one at work and the other that starts at 7pm. I thank god everyday for blessed Aunty sari, without her, I am so lost.

Some things get done, somethings just don't. But the j&js are happy ;) so, we are too!

Back to work

Yes! It has been a good 5.5 months since I left the office and so on 1st June, I headed back to corporate land. Missing the kids was an understatement but on the other hand,it felt good to be back at work too. I guess the time away made me appreciate the kids even more, especially the baby!

Just the week before I head back to work, sari went back for her 1 week vacation ad so me, was the official maid! Again, I don't know how she can look after the baby and still tackle all the household chores . Waising took leave the first three days and my mum the last 2 to help out and even with help, I could barely get anything done! Except cook for Justin. Blah, I make a super bad maid!

But on the more positive note, I got to bond with the baby cos I had to breastfeeding him - refuse to be bottle fed, and the experience was great! We even went to watch Kung Fu panda, with the big one really engrossed and the baby stuck to my boob! I now know what pple mean by " what ever works"!

These moments make me appreciate my family and all the ups and downs that come with it. No arrangement is perfect ;) but so long as the kids are happy and contended and we have enough, we are happy ;)

Button's 3rd month birthday

Family picture taken during baby button's 3rd month birthday ;) we have this tradition of celebrating their month birthdays but we forgot about jason's 2 month date..;(

Justin seems so big next to the baby!

Jason is growing well and starting to get quite heavy. He still likes to be rocked to sleep (which baby doesn't) but after the koala Justin experience, I have come to terms with it and hey, if it gets him down for a nap, why not? Anything goes!

In his sleepy state, he will latch on, so now at times I will latch him. But he still doesn't stay on the breast long enough to be full. He is mainly bottle fed with my ebm
;) hoping that my supply continues to stay strong!

3 days before you turn three

You will be a big 3 years old in 3 days time!

As I cuddled you to bed tonight, I got reminded of how small you were, not so long ago and just how big you are now! In the first 3 months of this year, you have grown by leaps and bounds. Mummy is proud that you are now fully potty trained in the day and even during nap time. You have also learnt how to pull down your own pants while in the toliet. ;) well done!

You have also started speaking in longer sentences and even making up imaginary stories during our bedtime read along. During your play sessions, I have also noticed that you now talk very actively to your animals, sometimes even playing teacher with them! You love to say "wait Har... Okie okie" - I think you picked that up from mummy! And just yesterday, you said the word "shit" as in oh shit... Mummy and daddy both stared at you.

You have been the most wonderful brother, always happy to help entertain didi and throw his diapers. I love to see you kiss him, immediately after you walk through the door from school. It really warms my heart.

As big size as you are, you have to work at being more gentle at play. You dun mean too but when you get too excited, you push and hit your friends at school. You even bit one of them. The teachers have to watch you so closely. Mummy hopes that you learn better self control in this area.

We have planned 2 parties for you this year ;) one in school and the other at east coast! Hope that you will enjoy the cakes and the balloons!

As you turn a year older, mummy hopes that you continue to remain the sweet child that you are, telling me that you love me, and always raining hugs and kisses for everyone. Grow up well, be happy and healthy!
