Chinese Ah Peh?

Could the Little One be a Chinese Ah Peh in the making?

Caught him watching the Channel 8 repeat telecast of Huang Jing Nian Hwa in the morning where seniors compete in a oldies song contest. He was hooked onto it man! refuse to leave the living room to take his breakfast. So here's a video of him watching the programme, with the Big One providing some light hearted entertainment... listen closely and you can hear the oldies song

All about the clock and car

The Little One has started to say "clock" and "car" correctly!

Whenever he sees a car, especially a red one, he goes "CAR".. everything that has wheels is a car, including pictures of trains and trucks. That's how they associate and learn, i guess.

He has been able to say "clock" for sometime now, but what really suprised me this weekend happened when we were watching the Mickey Mouse Playhouse cartoon on tv and they were using a scale, something round with numbers on it.. and the Little One leaped from his seat and ran to the clock on the wall and said "clock". At first, i tot that he was just saying clock then the Big One pointed out that he must have associated the scale on tv and thought that it was a picture of a clock. Wow.. that i thought was quite smart of the Little One :)

This weekend, we brought him to many places.. Geylang Serai for one! to see the light up for Hari Raya and to shop around the pasar malam stores. We also had nasi padang for 2 nights in a row.. greedy! And the Little One went to his first bar.. One Twenty-Six at East Coast Playground! He was busying himself with all the low tables and coasters.. hmm, maybe a career has a bartender in future?

First Day in September

This month, he will be turning 17 months old! Was remembering how i had plans to stay at home till he was 18 months old, putting the corporate job on hiatus. Guess things have changed quite a bit! We are blessed to have aunty sari who cares for him full time while we are both at work.. Original plan was to start having him attend childcare when he turns 18 months but that too, has been put on the backburner. After much thought, we decided that we will only start him in school next year.. anyways, the nov and dec months are like school holidays for the kids, so no point starting him then.

Someone was reminding me today that its only like another 1/2 more year, before the Little One turns 2.. wow.. just not long ago, we were celebrating his 1st birthday. For the 2nd one, definately no big parties. The Big One and I were deciding if we should bring the kid on holiday, and celebrate his birthday overseas. Anyway, we need to move fast cos after they turn 2, they become full paying passengers for airfare. Hmm.. with all the Natas holiday deals, a overseas holiday does seem like the logical choice.

Anyways, that's just the thoughts.. today, the Little One surprised me by flipping to a page on his book that showed a birthday celebration.. and he was clapping his hands! Guess he does recognize what is going on in the picture :) How cute! Noticed also that he is starting to get better during self feeding and loves feeding himself bite sized portions. Last Sunday in fact, we decided to try out if he could sit through a meal, with us feeding him part of his dinner and the rest for him to self feed. And he did very well! Fed himself tofu and pieces of salmon fish and even had watermelon :) compared to just a few months ago, when the Big One and I have to take turns to eat dinner, this was a clear change! Now we just have to give him enough variety of food and he would be happily sitting next to us eating. :)grins

At the Bird Park with the Ows

Last Saturday saw us at the Jurong Bird Park with the Ows :) Ian and Faith.

It was a bit of a last minute decision to meet up, partially cos i missed seeing Ian and Faith and also becos Ian has been wanting to see "baby justin". Decided that we should meet up so that the kids can have some fun :) and since Ian has been asking to go to the Bird Park, we decided to meet here. As we were driving there separately in the morning, it was threatening to rain! Luckily it didn't and the weather held up beautifully throughout our outing! Otherwise we would have to see very wet birds and that wouldn't have been very fun at all.

Here's a shot of the Little One with Ian and Faith. Was trying to get all three of them to focus on the camera but err.. as you can see, each was doing their own thing! Ian was watching the Birds of the Prey show whereas the other two were just, watching something :) Not sure if birds are just harder to focus on, since they are flying here and there, but the Little One wasn't as interested at the shows in the bird park as compared to the zoo.
There was another show that we went to - Birds and Buddies! This one is a bit cuter, with the birds performing tricks such as throwing ping pong balls through small basketball hoops and mascots dancing around.. the Little One showed a bit more interest in this one.. and here he is watching intently while the Big One goofs around :)
After about 3 hours at the place, it was time for lunch at the Bongo resturant. The only one! This is quite different to the zoo where there were lots of choices for meals. Didn't really think the food was very good, even compared to the zoo. But the kids had lots of fun :) think hamburgers, pasta and lemonade.. yummy!
The Little Ones were getting sleepy, especially Justin and Faith.. so after lunch, we went home.. Here's a shot of mummy and the Little One at the entrance of the Bird Park.. till we visit again!

His Auntie's Birthday

:) The month of August is filled with weekend celebrations for the Little One's birthday. Well, there is only one aunty but at least 3 celebration meals. Isn't she lucky?

Here are some of the pictures taken at the celebrations:

These 2 were taken at Chinese Swimming Club where we had a nice buffet meal. The Little One was having lots of fun pointing to the fishes in the pond. Love this black and white shot :) The Big One says he really looks like me.

The Little One is now old enough to get a present for his auntie :) This year he sent her flowers for her birthday.. with a special note from him!

Here's another one with us at Parkway.. He looks like he is trying very hard to pose for the camera! Its as if he is asking "am i hot or what!"
Happy Birthday Auntie!

PS: Can you imagine how busy we will be when it comes to October? its mummy, daddy and both his grandparent's birthday!
