Still down...

The flu bug is still raging its war on the Yong Family. the one who is suffering the most is the Little One who barely recovered from his first flu to catch another even stronger viral version. Its the second time he has been so sick and mummy was really quite helpless.. with the viral flu, he was suffering from high fevers at 38.5 degress, a mucky nose that ran like the waterfall and mucus that was also stuck in his throat and causing him to throw up after each meal. This resulted in 2 visits to the pd this week, first on tuesday night when he started having the fevers

Wand another time on friday when his cough seemed progressively chestier.

Sari was also down with a sinus infection from her running nose, i was seriously panda eyed and with a sore throat and the Big One is down with a cough.

We had to cancel our plans to go to Club Med Bintan.. really couldn't see how we could have brought the sick baby to holiday with a high fever like that. Sigh.. well, there goes my plan to lie on the beach for some R&R time.. have to exchange that plan with one that is almost home bound.

The Little One screams whenever we approach him with the nose drops and suction or nasal spray and its like fighting a war to administer medicine. But what to do.. just have to hope and pray that he gets better soon.

Was running an event earlier this week so clocking in long hours that saw me shuttle from work to home at each opportunity i got to check on the boy.. made me very tired. But the event is over and friday also marked my last day in the office (before i move on to my new job after national day). Lots of mixed feelings about that, leaving a place that saw me get married and have my kids, with very fond memories and friends.. but i am sure that the new opportunity will bring along with it lots of challenges and new friends.

We are down..

Down down down with flu and cough..

First it was the Little One .. started on Monday night and immediatly sped him to the ped the next morning. Got a packet full of the cough, flu, congested nose meds..and a bottle of antibotics to standby in case his congested nose doesn't clear up in 2 days.

Two days later.. its me who is down. Got a bit of the chills last night and this morning a hacking cough.Taking no chances, i went to the doc this morning. Got roughly the same type of meds that the Little One got, except in adult version. It was scary to see how many sick pple there were in the clinic. Got my meds and fled out.

After taking the meds.. feeling abit drowsy and sleepy but can't go home cos event is exploding!

The weekend trip to Genting

We had a weekend getaway to Genting to celebrate my grandma's birthday! She is 81 this year! It was only after i went on no pay leave that me and aunty susan decided that we should plan something for grandma's birthday each year, something different from the usual makan session that we had done for so many years. It just a pity that we didn't think of doing something like that when grandpa was still around, but since grandma is still healthy and strong, we decided that each year should count as a blessing and there should be a extra special celebration. Grandma was thrilled with the chalet get together last year and this year, we decided to set the bench mark even higher with an overseas trip! In all, there were 14 of us on this trip :) quite a big big group and a first for my grandma with her 2 sons.

Had an early morning start on saturday with a 8 am flight to KL.. here's justin with his granduncle. He was super hyper and woke up at 5.30am, seemingly understanding that we are going on a trip. Thankfully he was in high spirits despite missing his breakfast and had lots of fun running around the transit area of the airport.

He fell asleep on the short plane ride :) But here's a picture of him and me before the plane took off. Luckily it was a short , no fuss 45 minutes with him in my arms sleeping whilst i tried to read the newspapers. Upon reaching KLIA, which is a first time for me... he was amazed by the LRT ride .. insisted on hanging on to the rails which obviously was quite a feat for him! THis was where The Big One saw the Mega Big Chuppa Chups .. 15 lollis in one! See the LIttle One is trying with all his might to hang to one!

After clearing immigrations, all the 14 of us boarded a mini coach that we rented for a 2 hours ride to Genting Highlands.. The LIttle One had lots of fun running around the coach (oops.. i know that's dangerous) and i managed to entertained him for 30 mins watching Hi5 (thank goodness for the DVD) and the rest, he spent trying to nap. Here is a picture of him trying to disturb the Big One :)

After a quick check-in at the Highlands Hotel, we went for lunch at some Mushroom Farm :) No, we didn't have mushroom .its just normal tze char fare ... but there were some interesting statues of animals and mushrooms at the entrance of the farm. The Little One decided to ride a deer :)

His favourite activity throughout this trip = pole dancing! Once he spots a metal pole, he will off running towards it and want to cling on to it and dance around it.. OMG! Does this give me any insight to his future career plans???

Since he was already eating solids, this trip i didn't bring much food except some biscuits for him and his milk. He basically ate what we ate and seems to really like eating rice. Didn't get a chance to go to the amusement park cos the Little One is too small so did what was next best.. shopping!! Had to do an emergency shopping trip cos i didn't bring enough long pants for him and it got colder than expected. Whilst shopping for the Little One, i saw this super super nice pink dress that i had to get for yan yan :) The Big One and I also tried a fish foot spa while the Little One napped in the Ergo carrier. Sari had the chance to go on the rides and also do some shopping! But i think that it was extra fun for her cos her sister went on the trip as well!

It was really a short trip, cos we departed Genting the very next morning.. and no, mummy and daddy didn't win it big in Genting. still it was nice bonding with my cousins and aunties and uncles :)

Happy Birthday GrandMa!

The One with Mummy at Work

This week Mummy is away at work full-time!

On Monday, Mummy went out for dinner with some old time gal friends, liz and dot. The Big One was in-charge of putting baby to bed and it worked! without much fuss too :) The Big One said that the little one was very cooperative!

On Tuesday, came back from work quite late.. just in time to pat baby to bed.

On Wednesday, decided to dump the stuff in the office and rush home. Still had time to play with the little one a bit before putting him to bed.

Today.. hopefully i can leave the office on time!

The Finger!

No no no.. he is not giving us the Finger yet but he sure is gesturing a lot!

The Big One was saying that the Little One probably picked it up from me, shaking my finger and saying "no no, don't do that". Now, whenever the Little One wants something, he will point the finger and shake it and say "ah ah ah..ah ah", which normally means "I want this.. open it for me". He has a habit of opening and closing everything thing he sees, especially bottles. He will sit with the bottle and insist that you open the cap for him, just so that he can close it. The good thing is that it keeps him occupied for a while.. the flip side is that we have to get lots of bottles for him to open.

His coordination skills have improved.. now he can even insert a key into the key hole. Every morning while the Big One dresses for work, the Little One plays with the drawer key and most of the time, he can get it into the keyhole :) and yes, we all have to stop whatever we are doing then to clap and praise him! Lots of cheers and praises keeps the dude very happy :)

Update on the Dustbin

Forgot to blog about this.. the new dustbin is the... Toliet Bowl!

He has discovered that lifting up the lid of the toliet bowl and dumping his toys in is more fun than the dustbin. OMG! He has a whale of a time doing it when he is having his bath.

Latest victim - The Big One's bottle of salad dressing!

Spending time with Ye Ye and Nai Nai

Sari had to go to the Embassy to vote today and i couldn't take time off from work. Had to ask Waising's parents to come over to babysit The Little One for a morning. They actually haven't done it before but from my MIL's feedback, it seems that the Little One enjoyed himself and didn't even put up such a great protest when it was nap time! That's good news! The Little One has always given Ye Ye "face" and has never been too difficult or acted up :) Think that this dude is also clever enough to know who is boss.. or so i think!

Will go home and hear the rest of the report but one thing that hubby said was right .. My MIL is over the moon about this and no doubt, we will be hearing loads of it in the few weeks to come!

TV?

The Little One has found a new past time - turning the TV on and off. It was quite amusing at first cos we were all like cooing and wowing over his skill, but now, he runs off to the TV too many times in the day to be funny anymore. Sometimes he seems to think its a game, he turns it on and i turn it off.

Now the trick to cope with his habit is to tell him to turn it off! It seems to work so far and after switching it off, he kindof forgets about the TV and runs off to play with his other toys.

Got the chance to capture this on video :)
